Slacker Rock. It's harder than it seems. It's easy to be slack, that's fine, all you have to do is stay doing the shit job you've been threatening to walk out of for years.
Actually making slack rock requires a zen preciseness comparable to math rock, as well as knowing the exact amount of classic rock references you can allow in before the music spills over into being something beloved of the rock monthlies that only exist for most now during long train journeys. Mac DeMarco pulls off a level of effortless effort to such a degree I imagine Stephen Malkmus pausing over his granola momentarily - surely a high accolade?
